    1. What vaccinations are required?
      1. All pets undergoing surgery are required to have a current Rabies vaccination.
      2. Owner must provide a certificate of Rabies vaccination before surgery. We are not able to accept a Rabies tag as proof of vaccination.
      3. If owner is not able to provide proof of Rabies, a vaccine will be administered at the time of surgery at the owner's expense.
      4. Other vaccinations and services are available at the time of surgery upon request: DAPP (Distemper/Parvo), Leptospirosis, Lyme, Bordetella (Kennel Cough), FVRCP (Feline Distemper), FeLV (Feline Leukemia), Etc.
    2. Can my pet have food and water?
      1. Withhold food from 10pm the night before surgery.
      2. Pets may have access to water overnight before surgery.
    3. Should I use a carrier or leash?
      1. All dogs must be in an appropriately sized carrier or on leash.
      2. All cats must be in an appropriately sized carrier.
      3. All cats should be dropped off in individual carriers. Please contact use in advance if you do not have access to an appropriate carrier.
    4. When do I drop off my pet?
      1. Dog should be dropped off between 7:00am and 7:30am (unless instructed otherwise).
      2. Cats should be dropped off between 7:30am and 8:00am (unless instructed otherwise).
    5. When do I pick up my pet?
      1. Dogs should be picked up the same day between 1:00pm and 1:30pm (unless instructed otherwise).
      2. Cats should be picked up the same day between 1:30pm and 2:00pm (unless instructed otherwise).
    6. Should I buy an Elizabethan collar (Cone) or Zen collar (Inflatable donut collar)?
      1. We strongly recommend buying and keeping a cone or donut on your pet for 10-14 days after surgery to prevent licking and chewing. Cones and donuts are available for purchase at our clinic.
      2. Surgery suits may also be used to help prevent licking and chewing. These items are available at other pet related stores and online.
    7. What should I expect after surgery?
      1. You must restrict your pet’s activity for 10 days following the procedure. No running, jumping, playing, swimming or other strenuous activity. Cats should stay indoors. All dogs should go out on a leash to urinate/defecate and then return inside to rest. Keep the incision dry; do not bathe or apply topical ointment during the recovery period.
      2. Keep males away from un-spayed females for 30 days. Keep females away from unneutered males for 7 days. Keep pets away from each other during the recovery period.
      3. Check the incision twice daily. Minimal redness and swelling is normal for the first few days. Contact primary veterinarian if you note any excessive redness, heat, pain, swelling, discharge or bleeding.
      4. Appetite should gradually return to normal within 24 hours of surgery. Do not change your pet’s diet at this time and do not give junk food, table scraps, milk or any other people food during the recovery period. This could mask post-surgical complications. Lethargy or loss of appetite lasting for more than 24 hours post-op, diarrhea, or vomiting are not normal and your pet should be taken to your primary veterinarian if these occur.
